Local Or National Locksmiths Whats The Difference ?

by Derek Mercer - 07:56 on 07 November 2021

When you need a locksmith you will find plenty of choices on the internet some local and some national locksmiths so assuming the locksmiths skill levels are the same whats the difference ?

National locksmiths are basically call centre businesses who advertise locally at the very top of google (will show as Ads) which is expensive to do these costs need to be re-cuperated and so this cost is added to the cost of the locksmith service.

National Locksmiths as a general rule do not employ their own locksmiths but sub-contract the work to locksmiths throughout the UK. The locksmith who carries out the work for the national company will have to split the proceeds of the job with the company and its not unusual for the locksmith to only recieve 40% of the money paid and so unfortunately its in their interests to charge as much as they can so that they make more money out of the job.

National locksmith companys sub-contract their work and so there will be a delay in finding someone to get to you simply becuase after taking your call they then have to fnd someone in or around your area to cover the job.

Hopefully you can already identify the difference and benefits of using a local not national locksmith but in summary when using a local locksmith you should have:

  • A quicker response
  • A lower bill for the work carried out
  • The name of the locksmith attending
  • A Guarantee for the work carried out.
