Upvc Door is Locking But Unable To Take The Key Out

At Lockkeys Locksmiths St Helens we often recieve calls from customers who tell us that they are able to lock and unlock the door but then they cannot get the key out of the lock.
Our Locksmith in St Helens Derek explains that this is normally due to what we call a misaligned cam on the lock. If you take a look at the photo above you will see theat the cam pictured with the red circle is above the lock at about 1 oclock when in fact it should be at 5 or 7 oclock, this is the misaligned cam.
The problem is normally caused by a key being left on the inside of the lock and someone trying to open the lock with a key on the outside. The answer to the problem is a new euro cylinder.
