Euro Cylinders & How To Measure Them

by Derek Mercer - 06:37 on 17 May 2025

The euro cylinder lock or euro for short is the most popular lock in the UK. When it comes to being replaced for whatever reason, its important to understand that there are more than 19 different sizes of this lock and its important to choose the right size for your door to avoid problems with the security of the lock.

The euro cylinder goes up in 5mm increments and can be a different size on each side of the door. The lock is measured from each end to the screwhole were the retaining screw fits. For example the one pictured above has a total length of 100mm but is 45mm on one end and 50mm on the other so if we were to replace this lock we would be looking for a 45/50 mm lock.

Being so popular Lockkeys Locksmiths St Helens are dealing with this type of  lock nearly every day of our working week, so if you would like  no obligation quote to replace a euro cylnder please call us on 07967 778940.
